Compac's onion infeed solutions ensure a gentle transition from bin or field box to the sorter. Options include:
Our bin tipping technology is fully automated and efficient and dumping bins of onions gently onto the line. Different systems cater for between 20-120 bins per hour.
This system uses either a mesh conveyor or a roller eliminator to remove undersized onions before they reach the grader.
Using rollers our Sorting and Grading Tables allow workers to manually presort onions before they enter the line
Central to Compac's onion solutions is our state-of-the-art sorting technology. Your production requirements and capacity will determine whether single, dual or multi-lane sorting capabilities are right for your packhouse. What differentiates our sorting solutions is our innovative, industry-leading Spectrim and InVision system. The system reduces labor requirements and provides you with unparalleled sorting consistency and accuracy.
Compac's weighing and pack optimization software delivers unsurpassed accuracy by meeting pack specifications, reducing onion giveaway and maximizing profits.
Our intelligent, easy-to-use software enables intuitive recognition of greening, sunburn and different onion types and will adjust grading accordingly.
Using Compac's advanced software, onions are sorted by the presence of surface blemishes. onions are then graded on minor to major defects including staining, mold, mechanical damage, external decay, pest damage, misshapen onions, and abrasions. Our systems can be configured to grade for differing levels of defects, providing maximum control when matching product grades to different markets.
Compac has many onion packing solutions to meet the different needs of our customers including:
The Compac box filler gently fills onions by weight with a trickle feed to accurately fill the box to the nearest few onions. This means less underweight boxes and reduced labor requirements to manually top up boxes.
Compac's soft-head rotary bin filling solution is particularly gentle on onions, distributing them evenly into the bin. Sensors detect when the bin is full and move on to the next.
Our manual or semi-auto bagging systems use Compac's unique optimizers to select the optimal combination of onions across the sorter to ensure the most accurate bag weights are achieved, with the minimum possible giveaway.
Reduce your labor requirements with our automated Carton Handling Systems (CHS).
The CHS tracks cartons from the sorter and distributes them to different destinations within the packhouse for palletizing and shipping. These intelligent systems can manage multiple boxes, products and destinations simultaneously. CHS integrates with the Compac Pack Printing system to automate carton labelling and data transfer to your ERP system for traceability, compliance and stock control.
Compac's pallet handling solutions improve efficiency. Our robotics ensure efficient and safe transportation of pallets around the packhouse, especially for high volume operations.
Compac's data and integration solutions track and record all onions as they cross the sorter and move through the packhouse. This information can then be shared with other packhouse systems such as ERP, traceability systems and carton printing applications. Reports on the performance of your operation can be generated, allowing you to feed this information back into your operation, making changes to optimize efficiency. We also facilitate remote sampling of various grades and sizes of onions for packhouse quality control.
Our industry-leading service and technical support network is dedicated to ensuring you have the right support to keep your packhouse running smoothly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
